INDIVIDUAL &
FAMILY PLANS

INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY

Individual and family health insurance plans, also referred to as private health insurance, are two similar types of plans. These coverages are essential when another type of health insurance does not already cover individuals and families. Many individuals are eligible for subsidies offered by the government to help cover the costs of these plans.

INDIVIDUAL HEALTH INSURANCE POLICIES

Available to individuals not currently enrolled in a government program such as Medicare, Medicaid or a policy acquired through an employer.

FAMILY POLICY

Similar to the individual plan but this plan will cover multiple individuals.

THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (ACA)

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires that these plans cover these 10 essential health benefits:

  • Outpatient services
  • Emergency services
  • Hospitalization
  • Maternity and newborn care
  • Mental health and substance abuse care
  • Prescription drugs
  • Rehabilitative services
  • Laboratory services
  • Preventative and wellness services
  • Pediatric services
